Congress Leader Alleges Gaps in Hyderabad Voter List Revision

Hyderabad district Congress committee president Syed Khalid Saifullah on Friday alleged serious lapses in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 exercise across the city, citing missing house numbers in voter lists and unshared anomaly records.

Speaking on the revision process, Saifullah stated that the Absent, Shifted, Dead and Duplicate (ASDD) voter lists provided for verification lacked house numbers and adequate address details. He questioned how Booth Level Agents (BLAs) could trace voters and verify their status without basic residential particulars.

Saifullah also noted that despite clear instructions from the Chief Electoral Officer directing booth level officers and electoral registration officers to share anomaly and unmapped voter lists with political parties, the parties had not yet received them. He said that without knowing which voters were flagged, party workers could not guide citizens in submitting necessary documents or correcting records.

Pointing to the Yakutpura Assembly constituency, the Congress leader said the Hyderabad DCC compiled 148 sets of apparent duplicate voter entries requiring administrative verification. He stated that the presence of duplicate entries raised concerns regarding the quality of the revision, adding that while duplicate records must be resolved, genuine voters should not be removed based solely on database matches.

Saifullah urged the Election Commission to furnish full anomaly and unmapped voter lists, supply proper address details in ASD lists, and conduct comprehensive verification of duplicate entries. Meanwhile, booth level agents stated that verified lists were being provided to political party representatives and that any discrepancies brought to their notice would be examined.
