Congress, BRS, and BJP Protest at Banjara Hills Police Station Over Cases Against BLAs

On Monday, 13 July 2026, leaders and party workers from the Congress, BRS, and BJP staged a major joint protest at the Banjara Hills police station in Hyderabad. The demonstration was sparked by allegations that false police cases had been registered against several Booth Level Agents (BLAs) during the ongoing distribution of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) application forms.

Tension prevailed in the Banjara Hills locality as news of the protest spread, drawing a large number of political workers who gathered outside the police station. To maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incidents, senior police officials deployed additional police personnel in and around the station premises.

The controversy arose after the local Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) lodged an official complaint against the BLAs. In the complaint, the ERO alleged that the agents were hindering the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) in their work and threatening them.

However, the protesting political leaders strongly disputed these allegations. They claimed that the BLAs were falsely booked merely for questioning irregularities in the distribution of the SIR forms. The protesters demanded that the police immediately withdraw the cases registered against the BLAs.

During the demonstration, several prominent local political figures staged a sit-in inside the Banjara Hills police station to register their protest against the police action. The sit-in was led by BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan, Congress leader Vijaya Reddy, and BRS Khairatabad constituency in-charge Manne Govardhan Reddy. Former corporators Mahesh Yadav and Veldanda Venkatesh, along with several other leaders, also joined the sit-in.

As the crowd of political workers outside the station grew, senior police officials closely monitored the situation. Authorities made continuous efforts to defuse the tension, and further details regarding the resolution of the protest were awaited.
