CMC To Fine Road Waste Dumpers Up To Rs 10 Lakh In Madhapur Cleanliness Push

Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) Commissioner Dr. G. Srijana has announced a strict crackdown on civic violations, warning that individuals dumping construction and demolition waste along roads will face massive penalties. Speaking during a review of civic initiatives, which included inspecting mechanised road sweeping equipment in Madhapur, the commissioner stated that violators will face fines ranging from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 10 lakh, and the vehicles used for dumping will be seized.

The inspection of the sweeping equipment in Madhapur and Parvathnagar was part of pilot locations to improve cleanliness. In a related weekend effort, the corporation cleared about 114 tonnes of green waste from 31 locations under a special green waste lifting drive.

To support these sanitation efforts, the CMC expects to receive up to Rs 180 crore in Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0 funds. Dr. Srijana stated that plans are being drafted to utilize this budget, with a specific focus on public urinals, which are easier to maintain than standard toilets. Sanitation workers are also being trained to handle four types of waste segregation.

The commissioner also addressed local infrastructure and monsoon preparedness. Acknowledging that recent rains were a "reality check" for the corporation's readiness, Dr. Srijana said the CMC is working on storm water drains. A total of 54 waterlogging points have been identified in the region, and Nala desilting is currently underway. To ease traffic, 74 major junctions have been identified for improvement, and work on the Khajaguda-IIIT flyover is targeted for completion by March 2027.

Grievance redressal has been highlighted as a primary focus for the CMC. The corporation is receiving complaints through five channels, and local officials have been directed to resolve issues at their level. Officials must provide written replies to citizen complaints within seven days, tracked by a newly implemented monitoring system. Additionally, the CMC will conduct anti-encroachment drives every Saturday.
