CMC Suspends Zayaka Food Court License in Kondapur Over Rodent Infestation

The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) suspended the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) licence of Zayaka Food Court in Kondapur on Wednesday, June 24, 2026. Following the suspension, municipal authorities ordered the establishment to shut down its operations immediately.

The forced closure was enacted after CMC food safety teams conducted an inspection and detected serious hygiene and food safety violations on the premises. Officials have directed the food business operator not to resume any business operations until all of the identified deficiencies are fully rectified, a fresh inspection is conducted by the authorities, and the suspension of the FSSAI licence is officially revoked.

During the inspection at the Kondapur food court, safety officials documented multiple temperature control and storage failures. Food items were found stored inside a non-functional freezer. The inspection team also discovered stale chicken biryani and spoiled vegetables kept in cold storage. Furthermore, egg mayonnaise was found stored under unsuitable conditions. The inspectors also observed that the establishment failed to maintain proper segregation of different food items.

In addition to the storage violations, the inspection revealed a severe rodent infestation inside the facility. The food safety team found active rat burrows and clear evidence of rodent damage to food packaging. Rat droppings were also detected inside the raw material and packaging storage areas.

The municipal enforcement action against the Kondapur establishment was part of a broader series of food safety inspections carried out by the CMC food safety teams at various food establishments across the municipal limits on Wednesday. The inspections focused on identifying hygiene lapses and safety violations to ensure local establishments adhere to food safety standards.
