CMC Seizes Expired Food at Zomato Hyperpure in IDA Kukatpally and Chandanagar Restaurant

On Thursday, June 25, 2026, food safety teams from the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) launched inspections targeting food establishments, uncovering major hygiene and safety violations at Zomato Hyperpure Private Limited in the IDA Kukatpally area of Hyderabad. The municipal teams also inspected The Food Planet restaurant in Chandanagar on the same day, seizing expired food products and documenting poor sanitation across both sites.
At the Zomato Hyperpure facility in IDA Kukatpally, officials seized and disposed of 78 expired packets of Kitchen King masala and expired pizza sauce. The inspection team identified several poor storage and sanitation practices inside the premises.
According to officials, food and non-food items were stored together, while vegetarian and non-vegetarian products were kept in the same freezer. The storage trays and the poultry chiller were found to be unhygienic. Inspectors also observed flies near the vegetable segregation area, along with food spillages and leakages within the facility. Samples of peanuts, dal, cumin, and ghee were collected from the Kukatpally site for laboratory analysis.
In a separate inspection on the same day, the CMC teams visited The Food Planet in Chandanagar. At this restaurant, officials found greasy exhaust systems, ceilings, and pipelines resulting from poor cleaning. The teams immediately discarded expired raw mutton and unlabeled curd on the spot.
The Chandanagar restaurant was also found to be operating without mandatory records, including those related to the medical fitness of food handlers, pest control, water quality testing, and food packaging.
Furthermore, refrigerators used for storing non-vegetarian food at the restaurant were not maintained properly. Houseflies were observed inside the kitchen, and food handlers were found using worn-out chopping boards and iron knives. The staff did not wear aprons and had untrimmed nails. Officials also discovered food waste accumulated in the drains, creating unhygienic conditions. The CMC teams directed the restaurant management to improve hygiene standards and maintain proper food labelling.
