CMC Launches Mosquito Control Drive and Reviews Civic Issues at Silicon Valley Park

The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) has launched a sustainable mosquito control drive and reviewed local civic grievances at Silicon Valley Park in the Madhapur Ward of Kukatpally Zone. Conducted as part of the 'One Ward Every Day' programme, the initiative involved releasing larvivorous gambusia and guppy fish to naturally curb mosquito breeding at its source.
CMC Commissioner G Srijana and Serilingampally MLA Arekapudi Gandhi led the visit, accompanied by the Zonal Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, and other municipal department officials. The visiting team interacted directly with local residents and members of the Colony Residents Welfare Associations (RWAs) to discuss pressing neighborhood issues.
The release of gambusia and guppy fish is designed as an eco-friendly and cost-effective method to target mosquito larvae. According to municipal officials, these fish feed on the larvae, which helps reduce the spread of vector-borne diseases without relying on chemical interventions.
During the interaction at Silicon Valley Park, residents raised several civic concerns. Major issues highlighted by the community included the need for borewell repairs, underground drainage (UGD) network upgradation, and resolving water supply problems, such as low pressure and issues with water tankers.
The residents also brought up infrastructure and maintenance challenges. They requested road repairs, the clearance of development debris, and action against illegal parking and encroachments.
Additionally, the community sought improvements for Silicon Valley Park itself, requesting an open gym, children's play equipment, and general park development. Concerns regarding traffic, the need for increased police patrolling around the park, and the timely lifting of green waste from tree pruning were also voiced.
To address littering and improper waste handling, residents called for stricter measures. Commissioner G Srijana directed the respective departments to examine all the raised issues, coordinate with line agencies, and take necessary action to ensure early resolutions.
