CMC Food Safety Teams Uncover Hygiene Violations at Shah Ghouse in Gachibowli

On Saturday, June 27, 2026, food safety teams from the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) conducted an inspection at the Shah Ghouse Hotel and Restaurant in Gachibowli, Hyderabad. The inspection uncovered multiple hygiene and sanitation violations at the establishment, which is widely known as one of Hyderabad's most popular biryani destinations. The findings have raised serious concerns regarding the venue's overall food safety practices and sanitation standards.
During their walk-through of the premises, the CMC food safety officials observed several critical issues within the food preparation areas. Most notably, inspectors found houseflies present throughout the kitchen. The general housekeeping of the facility was also flagged as poor, characterized by a significant accumulation of grease, dirt, and dust across various surfaces.
Furthermore, the inspection team highlighted major issues in the food handling zones. The non-vegetarian cutting area was found to be highly unhygienic, which officials noted posed a severe risk of cross-contamination for the food being prepared. In addition to the preparation areas, the storage practices of the restaurant were called into question. The food safety teams discovered semi-prepared food items stored inside the facility without any labels to indicate their preparation date or contents.
Sanitation and waste management issues were also prominent during the Saturday inspection. Officials found open drains that had accumulated food waste, as well as an unclean wash area. The storage infrastructure also showed signs of neglect, with water leakage detected directly inside the store room.
The restaurant also failed to meet administrative and regulatory requirements during the visit. When asked by the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation teams, the management of Shah Ghouse Hotel and Restaurant failed to produce necessary water testing records.
Finally, the physical maintenance of the kitchen walls was heavily criticized by the inspectors. Gutka stains were observed on the kitchen walls, which officials pointed out as a clear indicator of poor sanitation and lack of proper maintenance at the Gachibowli establishment.
