CMC Demolishes 19 Illegal Structures Across Kukatpally and Nearby Circles

The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) carried out an enforcement drive against unauthorised constructions on Saturday, demolishing 19 structures across Kukatpally, Serilingampally, and Quthbullapur. Civic authorities also issued notices to 12 other properties, while seven additional cases remain pending for further action.

According to municipal officials, the demolition drive targeted building regulation violations across multiple zones. The operations included the removal of nine unauthorised structures in Serilingampally, six in Quthbullapur, and four in Kukatpally. Officials stated that the enforcement campaign would continue in accordance with established building regulations.

Despite the civic body's enforcement action, local residents raised concerns regarding the consistency and timing of the demolitions. Several locals questioned why municipal authorities failed to intervene while the illegal structures were actively being built.

“Illegal buildings don’t come up overnight. What were officials doing when these constructions were going on?” asked Narahari, a local resident, who called for accountability regarding those who failed to act at earlier stages.

Other residents alleged that the civic body was engaging in selective enforcement. A resident questioned why specific localities were singled out when unauthorised constructions exist across the city, demanding comprehensive action against all violations.

Community members also voiced concerns regarding preventive oversight and potential corruption within the monitoring system, emphasising that mechanisms should be established to halt unauthorised activity at the initial stage of construction rather than relying solely on delayed demolitions.

In response to the criticism, civic officials maintained that the identification of violations and subsequent enforcement actions are being executed in phases. The corporation stated that all building violations will continue to be addressed under due process.
