CMC Commissioner Srujana Announces Waste Management Roadmap After Plant Inspections

The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) has announced a new roadmap to upgrade its waste management system, following an inspection of advanced waste processing facilities in Jeedimetla and Dundigal on Friday, July 17, 2026.

CMC Commissioner Dr. Srujana led the inspection tour to evaluate the operational efficiency and the specific technologies currently in use at these local plants. The visit is part of a larger initiative to transform the municipal corporation's waste management system into one of India’s most sustainable, citizen-focused, and efficient models.

During the inspection, Dr. Srujana visited the Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste processing plant located in Jeedimetla. She also travelled to Dundigal to inspect the integrated waste processing complex, which includes a Waste-to-Energy plant, a hazardous waste management centre, and e-waste recycling units.

At each facility, the Commissioner closely studied modern waste handling technologies and reviewed the active pollution control measures. Additionally, she examined the resource recovery systems and the processes involved in power generation at the plants.

The CMC's new roadmap aims to shift the civic body's approach toward urban waste by treating it as a valuable resource rather than mere refuse. According to an official press release, the corporation plans to adopt world-class technologies to meet the future needs of the city.

"Cyberabad must move toward treating waste not merely as something to be discarded, but as a valuable resource," Dr. Srujana said. "With future needs in mind, our goal is to study world-class technologies and implement the most suitable practices for the city."

The inspection and the subsequent roadmap announcement mark a step toward upgrading the civic infrastructure of the Cyberabad region.
