CM Revanth Reddy Urges Amazon to Raise Telangana Investment to Rs 1 Lakh Crore

On Wednesday, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy urged technology giant Amazon to increase its investment in the state to Rs 1 lakh crore by 2034. Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the company's new hyperscale data centre in Bharat Future City, the Chief Minister highlighted the state's vision to scale up its economy and position the new urban hub as a key growth driver.

Amazon has already committed an investment of Rs 60,000 crore in Telangana over the next 10 years to set up its data centre infrastructure. To facilitate these projects, the state government allotted 202 acres of land in Bharat Future City for the hyperscale data centre, which is being promoted as one of the largest of its kind in India. In addition to this site, Amazon was allotted another 98 acres of land in Chandanvelly for a separate data centre project.

Addressing the gathered audience at the groundbreaking ceremony, Chief Minister Reddy stated that Amazon's expansion would provide a major push to the state's flagship Future City project. He noted that the presence of such a major tech player would help attract other global technology companies, industries, and allied investments to Telangana.

According to the Chief Minister, the development of the data centre will accelerate infrastructure growth, generate local employment opportunities, and boost overall economic activity in the proposed urban hub.

The state government is positioning Bharat Future City as a vital engine for growth under its "Telangana Rising-2047" vision. This initiative aims to elevate the state's economy to $1 trillion by 2034 and further to $3 trillion by 2047.

Reddy also stated that the state government wants Telangana's contribution to India's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to double from the current 5 percent to 10 percent. This objective is part of a larger national goal of building a $30 trillion economy by the year 2047.
