CM Revanth Reddy to Inaugurate 1000-Bed MCR TIMS Hospital in Sanathnagar on August 17

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is set to inaugurate the 1,000-bed Marri Chenna Reddy Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (MCR TIMS) in Sanathnagar on August 17. The inauguration marks the launch of the facility as it finally moves towards full-scale operations after experiencing several months of delay.

Speaking ahead of the inauguration, MCR TIMS Sanathnagar director A. Narendra Kumar stated that Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha along with senior state officials will attend the opening event.

The inauguration of the 1,000-bed institution had previously been delayed for several months, with multiple tentative dates being announced by officials but subsequently postponed. To prepare for the full-scale launch, the hospital began a trial run on May 1. Additionally, the Telangana government officially renamed the institute after former Chief Minister Marri Chenna Reddy on July 31.

The ₹1,070-crore healthcare project originally received administrative sanction on April 21, 2022, and its foundation stone ceremony was held five days later. Spread across a 22.6-acre area within the existing Government Chest Hospital campus in Sanathnagar, the facility encompasses a total built-up area of 11.68 lakh square feet. The project was executed by Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Ltd. under a design-build model, while M/s OCI Architects acted as the project management consultant.

The hospital infrastructure is structured into four main blocks designed to accommodate emergency care, advanced diagnostics, surgery, critical care, outpatient services, and academic and administrative facilities.

Block A is designed to house emergency services, 15 operation theatres, and 30 intensive care units. Block B serves as the primary outpatient registration and service area, incorporating a centralised pharmacy, a cardiac operation theatre, cath labs, and a LINAC-based facility dedicated to cancer treatment.

Block C accommodates the facility's radiology and pathology laboratories, general and private wards, and VIP suites. Block D has been earmarked for administrative and academic functions, containing a 200-seat auditorium.
