CM Revanth Reddy to Inaugurate 1,082-Bed Dr MCR TIMS Facility in Sanathnagar

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is set to inaugurate the Dr Marri Channa Reddy Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (Dr MCR TIMS) in Sanathnagar on Monday. The ₹1,126-crore state-of-the-art medical institution has been developed with a total bed capacity of 1,082 across three primary blocks dedicated to emergency, outpatient, and inpatient services.

Spread across 53.30 acres with a built-up area of 11.68 lakh square feet, the newly constructed facility features a lower ground, ground, plus five-floor structure. The hospital's capacity includes 300 intensive care unit (ICU) beds, 400 general beds, 88 emergency beds, 30 dialysis beds, and 264 beds specifically earmarked for Employee Health Scheme (EHS) beneficiaries and medical tourism.

Designed as a Centre of Excellence in cardiac, renal, transplant, and trauma sciences, the hospital will house 37 departments, including 28 clinical and nine specialised departments. It will provide specialised healthcare in cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, vascular surgery, nephrology, urology, organ transplantation, gastro sciences, neurology, neurosurgery, orthopaedics, and general surgery.

The medical infrastructure at the Sanathnagar facility includes 15 major operation theatres, trauma and neuro critical care units, advanced catheterisation laboratories, radiation oncology, nuclear medicine services, PET-CT, linear accelerators (LINAC), and brachytherapy units. To support operations, the government has sanctioned 2,360 posts, comprising 1,988 medical and allied healthcare positions and 372 non-medical personnel.

Ahead of the inauguration, Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha inspected the premises on Sunday to review the arrangements. The minister instructed officials and the traffic police to ensure smooth traffic flow, designate proper parking areas, and manage crowd control and security for both VIPs and the public.

The review meeting was attended by Principal Secretary of Health Dr Christina Z. Chongthu, Health Commissioner Dr Sangeetha Sathyanaarayana, Dr MCR TIMS Director Dr Narendra Kumar, GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan, Information and Public Relations Commissioner Mukund Reddy, HMWS&SB Managing Director Ashok Reddy, and Additional DCP (Traffic) Venugopal Reddy.
