CM Revanth Reddy Orders Stadium Upgrades in Hyderabad for 2026 Khelo India Youth Games

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday directed officials to undertake permanent improvements to stadiums and sporting infrastructure in Hyderabad ahead of the Khelo India Youth Games 2026, which the state will host in December. Reviewing the arrangements for the national-level event alongside Sports Minister Vakiti Srihari, the Chief Minister instructed departments to execute all preparations in mission mode.
During the review meeting, Revanth Reddy emphasized the need for comprehensive preparations well in advance to make the event memorable while showcasing Telangana's sporting capabilities. He instructed officials to conduct immediate condition assessments of existing stadiums and upgrade them to meet the required national standards. The Chief Minister assured that the state government is fully prepared to provide all necessary funds for infrastructure development, ensuring that visiting athletes from across India are provided with quality facilities and a conducive environment.
With proposed competitions across 20 sporting disciplines, officials were asked to identify specific suitable venues for each discipline and make arrangements accordingly. Revanth Reddy also called for a clear division of departmental responsibilities regarding infrastructure development, the conduct of sporting events, and hospitality and facilities for athletes and guests.
To ensure effective organization, the Chief Minister directed officials to draft a detailed plan to involve key sports figures and bodies. He suggested engaging Arjuna Award-winning sportspersons from Telangana, members of the Telangana Sports Hub Board, representatives of the Olympic Association, and various national-level sports bodies.
Additionally, preparations for the opening and closing ceremonies are set to begin, with plans to identify and invite prominent guests, leading sportspersons, and film personalities to the programs.
The review meeting was attended by Chief Minister’s adviser K. Ramakrishna Rao, Sports Authority of Telangana Chairman Shiva Sena Reddy, Sports Department Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, and Sports Authority of Telangana State Managing Director Sonibala Devi.
