CM Revanth Reddy Orders New Metro Coaches and Faster Phase-II Expansion in Hyderabad

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has directed state officials to procure new metro coaches for the Hyderabad Metro and accelerate execution of the Metro Phase-II expansion project. The instructions were issued as passenger ridership across the network continues to rise, putting increased pressure on existing public transport services.

The drive to acquire additional train coaches is intended to help the current fleet cope with growing daily commuter demand. Officials noted that the city continues to depend heavily on public transport to handle everyday travel across the metropolitan area.

State leadership highlighted that rapid urbanization in Hyderabad has placed significant strain on the road network. Introducing a larger fleet of metro cars is expected to enable the transit system to accommodate higher passenger volumes while simultaneously reducing reliance on private cars and easing daily traffic congestion.

In addition to expanding coach capacity for current operations, the Telangana government is pushing forward with broader Phase-II expansion plans. The extended network is expected to connect more parts of Hyderabad to the metro grid.

For residents, the metro expansion remains a major infrastructure priority aimed at addressing urban congestion. Government officials are now tasked with expediting both the procurement of new coaches and the Phase-II development works.
