CM Revanth Reddy Launches Smruti Vanam Memorial Works for Poet Ande Sri in Hyderabad

On the occasion of poet-lyricist Ande Sri's birth anniversary, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy paid rich tributes to him in Hyderabad and announced the launch of construction works for 'Smruti Vanam', a dedicated memorial honoring the legendary writer.

During the event, Chief Minister Reddy referred to Ande Sri as 'Telangana's Kalidas' or 'Telugu Kalidas'. He shared a video message highlighting the poet's immense contributions to Telugu literature and the culture of the state.

The Chief Minister highlighted Ande Sri's famous song, 'Jaya Jayahe Telangana Janani Jayakethanam', which celebrates the rich history, glorious past, and hopes for a peaceful and prosperous Telangana. Reddy remarked that Ande Sri's poetry consistently reflected nature, humanity, and the voice of the common people.

Despite having very little formal education, Ande Sri rose to become one of the most talented and respected Telugu poets. He also penned several popular songs for Telugu films, including 'Mayamai potunna damma', 'Manishanna vadu', 'Palle neeku vandalu', 'Jai bolo Telangana, Jana garjana la jadi vana', 'Alli billi angura thota', and 'Chudu Telangana, chukka leni'.

Throughout his career, Ande Sri received numerous accolades for his literary contributions. He was awarded the Nandi Award in 2006 for the film 'Ganga'. His other honors include a Doctorate from the Academy of Universal Global Peace in 2014, the Dasharathi Literary Award and Ravuri Bharadwaja Literary Award in 2015, the Nakamma National Award in 2022, the Dasharathi Krishnamacharya Literary Award in 2024, and the Lok Nayak Award.

Despite his widespread fame, recognition, and prestigious awards, Ande Sri has continued to lead a simple life. The 'Smruti Vanam' memorial works launched on his birth anniversary aim to recognize his enduring legacy and contributions to the people of Telangana.
