CM Revanth Reddy Discusses Investments with Canada High Commissioner Chris Cooter

Canada’s High Commissioner to India, Chris Cooter, met with Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in Hyderabad to discuss strengthening trade, investment, and innovation partnerships between Canada and the state.
During the meeting, the discussions focused on opportunities for enhanced collaboration in major infrastructure and urban development projects underway in Telangana. These include the Musi River Development Project, the Hyderabad Metro Rail expansion, and the proposed Future City initiative.
High Commissioner Cooter highlighted the growing Canadian footprint in Hyderabad, pointing to Firan Technology Group’s decision to establish a manufacturing facility and CIBC’s opening of a Global Capability Centre (GCC) in the city. He also noted a major investment by CPP Investments, which has committed up to 1 billion Canadian dollars in a strategic partnership with Hyderabad-based CtrlS Datacenters.
Chief Minister Reddy highlighted Telangana’s success in key sectors such as IT, Life Sciences, Defence, and Aerospace, noting Hyderabad’s dominance in attracting GCCs of Fortune-500 companies. He explained his plans to transform the state into a global knowledge hub and proposed that a group of Canadian universities establish a multi-university campus in Hyderabad.
Addressing environmental and urban initiatives, the Chief Minister stressed the state's commitment to rejuvenating the Musi River to create an alternate economy along the riverfront. He sought Canada’s support for Telangana's solarisation efforts and plans to promote a green economy.
Reddy welcomed the growing Canadian engagement and invited Canadian companies, investors, and institutions to participate in the second edition of Telangana's Global Investors Summit, which is scheduled for December.
High Commissioner Cooter praised Telangana’s vision for development and job creation, stating that the state holds massive potential due to its talent pool. Cooter invited the Chief Minister to lead a delegation to Canada to explore further opportunities. He also announced that a Canadian trade delegation will visit Telangana in the coming months to hold extensive discussions on energy, urbanisation, defence, and aerospace.
