Class IX Student Dies by Suicide in Moosapet After Alleged Harassment by Teacher

A 14-year-old Class IX student died by suicide at her residence in Moosapet, Kukatpally, on Thursday, July 16, 2026, after her family accused a school teacher of harassing her. The Kukatpally police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the allegations against the teacher, identified as 22-year-old P Naresh.
The victim, who had migrated with her family from Srikakulam district, was living in Moosapet and studying at a private school. The suspect, Naresh, worked as a teacher at the same school and also conducted private tuition classes. According to the police, the teacher and the student had allegedly developed a close acquaintance.
Upon learning about this development, the girl's parents counselled her. They also reportedly complained to the school management against the teacher on Wednesday.
On Thursday, the girl attended school but was sent home in the afternoon after complaining of stomach pain. Police stated that later in the evening, she made a video call to Naresh and allegedly told him she was about to end her life.
The teacher immediately alerted one of her relatives, who rushed to the house along with other family members. Upon arrival, they found the girl hanging. She was shifted to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Following the incident, relatives and local residents accused the teacher of subjecting the minor to unwanted attention and blamed him for her death. They allegedly attacked Naresh before the police reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
Based on a complaint lodged by the girl's family, the Kukatpally police registered a case and are investigating the circumstances that led to the minor's death. Police officials stated that all allegations, including those against the teacher, are being examined as part of the investigation.
