Civic Staff Repair Putlibowli Road After Protest, Residents Demand CC Surface

Civic authorities in Hyderabad carried out repair work on a damaged road at Putlibowli on Tuesday, stepping in after a local resident staged a novel protest against the hazardous pothole situation in the area.

The municipal action followed a demonstration by a man named Feroz on Sunday night. Upset by the persistent potholes along the Putlibowli stretch, Feroz squatted in the middle of the road to draw the attention of officials to the issue. A video of his protest was subsequently shared widely on social media platforms.

Although civic workers moved in on Tuesday to carry out repairs on the damaged stretch, the intervention has left local residents dissatisfied. Community members described the work as mere patchwork and expressed concern that temporary measures will fail to hold up against heavy vehicular traffic and adverse weather.

Residents fear that the potholes could quickly reappear after just a couple of spells of rain, undoing the civic body's work. They have urged authorities to provide a permanent solution by laying a durable cement concrete (CC) road instead of repeatedly relying on stopgap measures.

Bharath, a local shopkeeper, stressed that the high volume of traffic demands a lasting infrastructure upgrade. He noted that heavy vehicles regularly ply the Putlibowli road, making recurring road damage inevitable unless authorities replace the patchwork with a proper cement concrete road.
