CISCE Opens Registrations for SHINE 2026 Digital Assessment

The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has officially opened registrations for the CISCE SHINE (Student Holistic Insight and Nurturing Evaluation) 2026 assessment in Hyderabad. The new-generation digital evaluation is scheduled to be conducted between November 15 and November 30.
The initiative is designed to help schools identify student learning needs and offer timely academic interventions. By focusing on developmental milestones, key assessments under SHINE aim to transition school testing beyond conventional year-end examinations toward a more continuous and meaningful understanding of academic progress.
The assessment targets students at three critical stages of school education, evaluating them on competencies established in Classes III, V, and VIII. Under this framework, students currently studying in Classes IV, VI, and IX will sit for the evaluation.
For Class IV students, the assessment will be conducted using a specialized game-based format. Meanwhile, students in Classes VI and IX will participate through digital assessments structured around Class V and Class VIII competencies, respectively.
According to the council, a key feature of the SHINE initiative is its ability to help educational institutions map learning progress across varying stages of schooling. This comparative insight model is planned to eventually span across Classes III, V, VIII, X, and XII.
Dr Joseph Emmanuel, Chief Executive & Secretary of CISCE, stated that SHINE represents an effort to make academic assessment more meaningful, timely, and useful for schools, teachers, and students. Registrations for the assessment have been made available via the official CISCE portal.
