Chef Ranveer Brar Crowns India's Favorite Biryani At Hyderabad Competition

Celebrity Chef Ranveer Brar visited Hyderabad to judge and crown the winner of the OneChef Biryani competition. The culinary event, which was hosted by electronics retail chain Vijay Sales, celebrated the country's love for the iconic dish in a city famous for its rich culinary heritage.
During his visit to Hyderabad, Brar highlighted the deep emotional and cultural connection that people across India share with biryani. He praised the host city, noting that Hyderabad was the most fitting place for such an event because biryani runs in its veins, joking that the local blood group is "B positive."
Addressing the nutritional aspects of the dish, Brar described biryani as a healthy and delicious option. He explained that biryani offers a balanced combination of proteins, carbohydrates, and fats, making it a complete meal that nourishes both the body and the soul. According to the chef, biryani is an honest, soulful food that stands out because it lacks the pretence or drama often associated with other modern dishes.
The celebrity chef also shared insights into his personal lifestyle and culinary philosophy. To maintain his fitness and wellness, Brar follows a diet of eating smaller portions more frequently, ensuring that every meal includes a good source of protein. For quick snacks, he prefers simple options like roasted chana, puffed rice, or makhana.
Brar, who is originally from Lucknow, stated that food serves as his identity and the lens through which he experiences different cultures, people, and places. When entertaining guests at home, he noted that biryani and kebabs are always his first choice to reflect his heritage.
Reflecting on his experience judging multiple seasons of MasterChef India, Brar recalled several memorable dishes that impressed him. These included a beetroot and pomegranate khandvi from Season 4, a visually stunning "honey-dripping dessert" created by actor Gaurav Khanna during a celebrity season, and remarkable Korean dishes prepared by one of the winning contestants.
