Charles Schwab Opens 345,000 Sq Ft Tech Centre in Hyderabad, Eyes 2,000 Jobs by 2027

US-based financial services major Charles Schwab on Wednesday formally inaugurated its first India technology capability centre in Hyderabad. Spanning 345,000 square feet, the new facility, named Schwab India, marks the firm's entry into the Indian market while strengthening the city’s expanding capital markets technology ecosystem.

The newly launched centre will support the company’s United States business operations through technology development, engineering, and operational capabilities. As part of its long-term growth roadmap in the region, Charles Schwab plans to expand its workforce in Hyderabad to approximately 2,000 employees by the end of 2027. Additionally, the firm aims to transition select technology assignments currently managed by external contractors in India into its in-house operations.

Telangana Information Technology and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu officially inaugurated the facility. The event was attended by senior Charles Schwab executives, including Christopher Wyse, managing director and chief corporate affairs officer; Pradeep Menon, country head and managing director of Schwab India; and Subba Perepa, managing director of Schwab’s global capability centre.

Addressing the gathering, Sridhar Babu stated that Hyderabad has been progressively moving beyond traditional shared services to create advanced technology solutions that drive global trading and brokerage systems. He pointed out that the city now hosts nine of the world’s top 10 brokerage and trading institutions, which collectively represent around $40 trillion in assets under management, alongside more than 475 global capability centres across various sectors.

Emphasising the state's vision for the financial technology sector, the minister noted that while Mumbai serves as the trading and brokerage capital of India, Hyderabad is increasingly developing the technology infrastructure that powers trading and brokerage across the world. He added that the Telangana government aims to further build and promote Hyderabad as a premier global hub for capital markets and WealthTech enterprises.
