Chandrayangutta Police Arrest Father After 12-Year-Old Calls Dial 112 Over Abuse

Chandrayangutta police took a 45-year-old man into custody under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act after his 12-year-old daughter placed an emergency call to Dial 112, exposing a five-year ordeal of alleged sexual abuse.

The emergency call centre received the SOS call from the minor at approximately 11:30 am on August 20. Recognizing the gravity of the complaint, the operators immediately alerted the Chandrayangutta police station to initiate a response.

Upon arriving at the residence, police officers found the 12-year-old alone at home. According to officials, the minor utilized the mobile phone her father had provided to track her movements to reach out to the emergency helpline and call for help.

Police stated that the minor had been subjected to repeated sexual assault since she was seven years old. Based on her complaint, officers booked the 45-year-old father under the POCSO Act and detained him for questioning.

A police source privy to the investigation noted that the minor was in a state of extreme trauma when the team arrived. Officers spent time helping her feel comfortable enough to recount the details of her ordeal.

Following established procedures, the survivor was subsequently moved to a safe location. Authorities stated that they are also considering shifting the child to the care of a non-governmental organisation (NGO) for continued support and protection.
