Centre Fixes Telangana Daily Rural Wage at ₹308 Under New VB-G RAM G Act

The Government of India has officially revised the daily wages for unskilled manual workers across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh under the Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) [VB-G RAM G] Act, 2025. In Hyderabad and throughout the surrounding region, the new daily wage has been set at ₹308 for Telangana, while workers in neighboring Andhra Pradesh will receive ₹312.
The Ministry of Rural Development notified the updated wage rates through an Extraordinary Gazette published on June 30. The revised schedule formally came into force on July 1, 2026, marking a significant transition in how rural employment wages are calculated and distributed.
This newly implemented wage structure replaces the previous framework that had been in operation for over a decade, since 2013. By updating the rates, the central government aims to establish a system that better reflects the current local conditions of each state while continuing to provide essential rural employment and livelihood support under the VB-G RAM G Act.
A comparison of the two Telugu states shows that Andhra Pradesh has been allocated a slightly higher daily wage rate than Telangana. However, both states remain positioned well below the country's highest-paying regions under the scheme. Under the new guidelines, the highest daily wages are designated for Haryana at ₹409, Goa at ₹406, and Kerala at ₹401.
Rather than introducing a uniform national wage rate for all unskilled manual workers, the Centre has chosen to retain its region-specific wage system. According to the Ministry of Rural Development, this localized approach is necessary due to the diverse geographical and administrative variations that exist across different states. The decision ensures that the daily wage rates remain tailored to the specific administrative and economic realities of each individual state and territory.
