Centre Denies Clearance for Telangana CM Revanth Reddy's Planned US Trip

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has been denied political clearance by the central government for his proposed trip to the United States, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Friday. Following the decision, the Chief Minister is set to return to Hyderabad on August 30.
The official position was clarified during a bi-weekly media briefing in New Delhi by MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, who responded to queries regarding the denial of permission. Jaiswal stated that international visits undertaken by chief ministers and other dignitaries are assessed by the Ministry of External Affairs before any political clearance is granted.
According to the MEA spokesperson, travel proposals submitted for clearance must strictly align with established norms and be fitting for the constitutional office held by the dignitary.
"The visits of chief ministers as well as of other dignitaries are assessed by the Ministry of External Affairs in order to accord political clearance," Jaiswal said.
"The programme proposed in such cases should be appropriate to the office held and the purpose of the visit. In this particular case that was not so in respect of the United States and therefore the clearance was denied," Jaiswal added during the briefing.
Prior to the MEA's briefing, the Telangana Chief Minister's office had also stated that the Centre had denied permission for the visit to the United States.
Reddy is currently in London and had planned to travel onward to the US following the conclusion of his trip to the United Kingdom. With the central government declining the required clearance for the American leg of the tour, the Chief Minister's office confirmed that Reddy will return to Hyderabad on August 30.
