Central Gurudwara Sahib Gowliguda Marks Centenary With Hyderabad Marathon

HYDERABAD — Central Gurudwara Sahib Gowliguda is celebrating its centenary year with a Centenary Marathon scheduled for August 23, drawing thousands of participants to Hyderabad's Necklace Road corridor.

The Prabhandak Committee of Central Gurudwara Saheb Gowliguda, working in cooperation with all Sikh Gurudwaras across Telangana, has lined up a series of events to commemorate the 100-year milestone of the historic gurudwara.

The marathon, themed around faith, community, and service, caters to all age groups and includes 3K, 5K, and family walkathon categories. The run will start from the HMDA Grounds near IMAX, proceed through People’s Plaza and Necklace Road, and loop back to the starting venue.

According to committee officials, more than 5,000 participants are expected to take part in the event. Preparations across the route and venue have been completed to manage the gathering.

Winners across various competition categories will receive medals, while digital certificates will be presented to all participants completing the walkathon.

Key office-bearers overseeing the event include Chairman S Rajender Singh, Central Gurudwara Saheb Gowliguda Prabhandak Committee President S Trilok Singh, Secretary S Harvinder Singh Pandath, and Vice-Presidents S Inder Pal Singh and S Surinder Pal Singh, along with committee members Kamaljeet Singh, Harpal Singh, Bhagat Singh, and Bhajan Singh.

Following the marathon, the centenary celebrations will continue in September with religious programmes, including Akhand Path Sahib, Kirtan Darbar, and Amrit Sanchar.
