C&D Waste Transfer Station Inaugurated at Gowlidoddi to Serve Gachibowli

A new Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste transfer station was inaugurated at Gowlidoddi in the Serilingampally Zone of the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) on Monday. The facility was officially opened by Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan alongside CMC Commissioner G. Srijana and other senior civic officials.

The newly established transfer station will serve as a central collection and aggregation point for construction and demolition waste from nearby localities, including Gachibowli, Madhapur, Narsingi, and Nallagandla. Officials stated that having a local transfer hub will cut down transit distances and help prevent the unauthorized dumping of construction debris along roads, open plots, and drains across western Hyderabad.

Set up by Re Sustainability, the transfer station is designed to complement the existing C&D waste processing facility located at Jeedimetla. By placing an aggregation point closer to high-growth zones experiencing heavy construction activity, the municipal corporation aims to speed up debris clearing, improve the efficiency of transport vehicles, and lower operational costs.

Civic authorities expect the facility to streamline the entire chain of collection, transportation, processing, and recycling of construction waste in Cyberabad. This approach is intended to boost the recovery and reuse of processed construction materials, helping reduce dependence on virgin raw resources.

Speaking at the inauguration, Jayesh Ranjan emphasized that construction and demolition waste should be treated as a valuable resource rather than regular waste. He noted that agencies executing cement concrete road projects and other civil works have been instructed to ensure debris is collected and handed over to authorized processing agencies.

Mr. Ranjan also pointed out that the expenses tied to the collection, transport, and processing of C&D waste must be factored directly into project estimates in line with government guidelines. The authorized service provider will provide doorstep collection and processing services, with user charges applied according to prescribed standards.
