BWF President Praises India for Hosting World Badminton Championship in Delhi

Badminton World Federation (BWF) President Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul has praised India for successfully hosting the World Badminton Championship in Delhi, highlighting the efforts of organisers, government bodies, volunteers, sponsors, and fans.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the BWF chief commended the Badminton Association of India for managing the tournament over many months. She acknowledged the support of the Government of India and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, while noting that the Sports Authority of India delivered the competition arena under a demanding timeline.

Leeswadtrakul also recognised the contributions of technical officials and volunteers, noting that their long hours and work behind the scenes ensured the championship ran smoothly. She added that schedules held from the opening day to the final match while meeting the highest international standards, supported by ongoing integrity measures and global broadcasts.

The BWF president emphasised that player welfare was prioritised throughout the tournament, with athletes and team officials offering positive feedback regarding accommodation, transport, and court conditions.

Congratulating the champions and runners-up, Leeswadtrakul praised the knowledgeable support of Indian badminton fans and noted the tournament's impact on inspiring young children who attended the matches.
