BRSV Protests at Masab Tank Over Polytechnic Merger With Skill University

HYDERABAD — The Bharat Rashtra Samithi Vidyarthi (BRSV) staged a protest at the Masab Tank Polytechnic College on Thursday, opposing the State government's proposed merger of polytechnic education with the Young India Skill University (YISU).
The student wing demanded that the government immediately withdraw the proposed changes and safeguard the interests of polytechnic students across the state.
Police intervened during the demonstration at Masab Tank, detaining the protesters and shifting them to the Asif Nagar police station.
Speaking to mediapersons, BRSV State president Gellu Srinivas Yadav alleged that the State government was attempting to weaken the polytechnic education system through the introduction of G.O. No. 97 and by linking it to the SHAKTI scheme.
Yadav stated that students who complete Class X and pursue polytechnic courses currently have viable opportunities to secure employment shortly after finishing their studies. He warned that the proposed structural changes would undermine these career prospects and potentially deprive students of their fee reimbursement benefits.
The BRSV leader further claimed that the government was intentionally undermining polytechnic education to promote the Young India Skill University model. He questioned the rationale of treating polytechnic students on par with ITI students if they chose not to enroll in courses at the Skill University.
Yadav also condemned the authorities for using police action to suppress student voices during the demonstration.
