BRS to Hold Youth Protest at Saroornagar Stadium Over Congress Job Promises

BRS to Hold Youth Protest at Saroornagar Stadium Over Congress Job Promises

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) is scheduled to hold a major youth convention, 'Yuva Sangrama Sadassu', at the Saroornagar Stadium in Hyderabad on Saturday at 10:00 AM. The protest meet aims to target the Congress government over its alleged unfulfilled promises regarding employment, recruitment, and youth welfare. BRS working president KT Rama Rao will address the gathering, which is expected to draw students, unemployed youth, and party workers from across Telangana.

The choice of Saroornagar Stadium as the venue is highly symbolic. It is the exact location where Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had previously unveiled the party's 'Youth Declaration' ahead of the 2023 Assembly elections. The BRS stated it deliberately chose this venue to question the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government on its unfulfilled commitments to the state's youth.

Under its Youth Declaration, the Congress had promised to fill two lakh government jobs per annum, release a job calendar, and provide an honorarium to unemployed youth, alongside creating new entrepreneurial opportunities. However, the BRS and government job aspirants have accused the Congress of issuing notifications for fewer than 60,000 jobs and abandoning the rest of its promises.

The BRS has alleged that the ruling Congress failed to honour its electoral promises to youth, students, farmers, and other sections. The party accused the government of allowing public dissatisfaction to grow, stating that the upcoming convention would expose the administration's record on employment and governance.

The event faced initial hurdles, with the BRS alleging that the government attempted to block the meeting by delaying police permission. However, the Telangana High Court cleared the event after questioning the police over the delay in deciding the BRS's application.

Senior BRS leaders stated that large numbers of students, job aspirants, and youth are expected to arrive from Hyderabad and neighbouring constituencies. The convention will focus on pending government recruitments, unemployment, fee reimbursement, and other issues affecting students and young job seekers. This protest sets the platform for the next phase of the BRS's statewide campaign, following its recent farmers' convention in Warangal.
