BRS Sets Up Legal Cell at Telangana Bhavan for Victims of 22-A Land Curbs

Residents and representatives from several colonies gathered at Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad on Wednesday after the BRS announced its 'Janata Garage' initiative, seeking public grievances on civic and property issues. In response to the representations, the BRS announced the creation of a dedicated legal cell to support property owners affected by Section 22-A restrictions.
Former ministers T Harish Rao and P Sabita Indra Reddy, along with MLAs Kaleru Venkatesh, Mutta Gopal, and Devireddy Sudheer Reddy, interacted with affected citizens at the party headquarters. Harish Rao announced that a 10-member BRS Legal Cell has been established at Telangana Bhavan to provide free legal assistance and guidance to individuals dealing with 22-A property disputes.
Harish Rao demanded that the state government order a CID inquiry into the 22-A process to establish who authorised the inclusion of properties in the prohibited list, who carried out the changes, and who later removed specific properties. He questioned why the Chief Minister was ordering inquiries into minor matters but had not initiated a CID probe into an issue impacting the property rights of lakhs of residents.
The BRS leader noted that properties in HUDA- and HMDA-approved layouts, as well as houses purchased decades ago, had been placed on the prohibited list. Specific cases highlighted included properties in Survey Nos. 20/1 and 21 in Serilingampally, KSR Colony in Ameenpur, which remains under 22-A restrictions despite a Supreme Court ruling, and around 30 acres across Survey Nos. 282, 283, and 284 in Budvel village that were reportedly cleared under pressure.
Appealing to property owners, Harish Rao urged them not to pay commissions or sell their assets at distress prices out of fear. He assured that BRS MLAs and leaders would personally accompany victims to district collectors and officials until issues are resolved, warning that the party would organise protests and lay siege to the Chief Minister's residence if the government fails to take prompt corrective action.
