BRS Protests Across Telangana Over Kalyana Lakshmi Scheme

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders and cadre staged widespread protests at district Collectorates and major junctions across Telangana, demanding the immediate release of pending financial aid under the Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes.
The demonstrations were held following directions from BRS working president KT Rama Rao, who accused the Congress government of attempting to discontinue the welfare programmes out of political vendetta. Protesters warned that agitations would be intensified statewide with the participation of women if the government fails to address the issue and disburse the funds.
Demonstrations took place in multiple constituencies across the state. In Makthal constituency, former MLA Chittem Rammohan Reddy led an agitation on National Highway 167. In Narayanpet, party units gathered at the Sri Satyanarayana junction. In Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy's Kodangal constituency, former MLA Patnam Narender Reddy led a protest at the Maddur Old Bus Stand junction.
Traffic movement was briefly disrupted in Jayashankar Bhupalpally after former MLA Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy and party workers held a demonstration at the Ambedkar Centre on National Highway 353. In Jogulamba Gadwal district, BRS in-charge Basu Shyamala Hanumantha Naidu led a large gathering at YSR Junction.
Tension was reported outside the Nalgonda Collectorate, where former MLAs Kancharla Bhupal Reddy and Nomula Bhagat staged a protest, prompting police deployment to maintain order. In Siddipet, party members gathered outside the Revenue Divisional Officer's office. Former Husnabad MLA Vodithala Satish Kumar criticized the administration for failing to file a counter-affidavit in the High Court between July 8 and August 7 regarding a Public Interest Litigation filed by a lawyer named Vijay Gopal.
Similar protests were held in front of the Peddapalli District Collector's office under former MLA Dasari Manohar Reddy, at Tahsildar offices across Armoor constituency led by former MLA A Jeevan Reddy, and at the Qutbullapur Zonal Office where MLA KP Vivekanand addressed the cadre.
BRS leaders noted that the financial assistance under the scheme was increased over time from Rs 51,000 to Rs 75,000 and eventually to Rs 1,00,116, benefiting nearly 10 lakh women during their previous administration.
