BRS MLC Demands CBI Probe into PM Ekta Mall Project in Hyderabad

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC Dasoju Sravan has demanded the immediate cancellation of the ongoing tender process for the proposed PM Ekta Mall in Hyderabad and called for comprehensive investigations by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), and Lokpal into alleged irregularities.
Speaking at a press conference held at Telangana Bhavan on Friday, Sravan challenged the Revanth Reddy-led state government to an open debate on the issue in both the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council. He stated that the BRS is prepared to place all relevant documents and evidence before the legislature. He also noted that the central government had sought a comprehensive report from the state government following a formal letter sent by BRS working president KT Rama Rao regarding the project.
Sravan alleged that the Congress government altered the original scope of the initiative, turning a project originally conceived to promote traditional artisans into a commercial real estate venture aimed at benefiting private developers. According to the BRS leader, the initial project approved under the previous BRS administration was planned as a six-floor building with a built-up area of 2.12 lakh square feet at an estimated cost of Rs 202 crore.
He stated that the current administration expanded the proposal into twin towers rising to 43 floors, increasing the total built-up area to nearly 27 lakh square feet without securing necessary central approvals. Sravan further alleged that excavation costs were raised from Rs 7.78 crore to Rs 26.04 crore, questioning how such large-scale civil works could be invited and undertaken without requisite permissions from the relevant regulatory authorities.
In addition to the structural modifications, Sravan raised concerns regarding the allocation of land. He stated that 6 acres and 12 guntas of prime land belonging to the Telangana State Leather Industries Promotion Corporation Limited (LIPCO), with an estimated market value of around Rs 1,300 crore, was being transferred to private companies under the guise of freehold conversion.
Sravan also alleged manipulation within the tender process, claiming it was designed to favour a consortium involving Vamsiram and Aparna Builders, and called for an immediate halt to all proceedings linked to the project.
