BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan slams Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy over welfare delays

BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan criticized Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy in Hyderabad over delays in implementing key welfare schemes and condemned personal remarks made against BRSLP deputy leader T Harish Rao. Sravan challenged the ruling Congress government to dissolve the Assembly and seek a fresh mandate if they claim to have fulfilled their pre-election promises.

Sravan accused Minister Srinivasa Reddy of displaying an arrogance of power when questioned about the Congress government's administrative failures and poll guarantees. The dispute escalated after Srinivasa Reddy reportedly made personal remarks referencing differently-abled individuals when responding to a challenge from Harish Rao. Sravan described these comments as insensitive, unbecoming of a minister, and amounting to intimidation rather than a political statement.

The BRS MLC raised sharp questions regarding the repeated delays in the Rythu Bharosa scheme. He stated that despite repeated promises over the past 14 weeks to release financial assistance within a week, farmers in Telangana are still waiting for support during the ongoing agricultural season. He demanded that the state government immediately release a white paper detailing the status of the farm loan waiver.

In addition to the agricultural scheme, Sravan questioned the progress of the Indiramma housing scheme. He demanded an official explanation regarding how many houses have actually been constructed and allotted by the Congress government over the last year. According to Sravan, the delay in identifying land for the housing project reflects a significant failure to fulfill a key welfare promise.

Furthermore, Sravan questioned whether the Revenue Minister was overstepping his role by making remarks on law and order and security matters. He accused the Congress government of attempting to divert public attention from its shortcomings by attacking opposition leaders.

Sravan asserted that the Congress was given a mandate to address the problems of the people, not threaten political opponents. He urged the ruling party to shift its focus back to delivering on its promises, including the farm loan waiver, Rythu Bharosa assistance, uninterrupted power supply to farmers, and housing for the poor.
