BRS Leader Demands Police Probe Into Suspension of AIMIM MLC Mirza Rahmath Baig

HYDERABAD — Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader Shaik Abdullah Sohail on Saturday demanded a comprehensive police investigation into the suspension of AIMIM MLC Mirza Rahmath Baig, asserting that the matter should not be treated merely as an internal political party affair.

Speaking to the media in Hyderabad, Sohail stated that the controversy surrounding the legislator concerns the public and requires accountability and transparency rather than being handled solely behind closed doors.

Sohail urged All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi to formally write to the Director General of Police and the Hyderabad Police Commissioner to seek an official, thorough inquiry into the circumstances and allegations that led to the action against the MLC.

The BRS leader noted that if the allegations against Baig involve any serious offence, law enforcement authorities should conduct a detailed probe and register a First Information Report (FIR) if warranted by the facts of the case, ensuring the truth is brought before the public.

Emphasising his party's stance on accountability, Sohail maintained that the BRS has consistently held that wrongdoing must be addressed regardless of political affiliation. He recalled that the party had previously adopted a similar position during an earlier case involving the son of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament.

The demand follows the recent suspension of Rahmath Baig from the AIMIM, alongside directives asking him to resign from his seat in the Telangana Legislative Council. Sohail reiterated that a fair and transparent investigation by the police remains necessary to clear the air surrounding the development.
