BRS Demands ECI Clarify Status of 73.39 Lakh Uncollectable Electoral Forms

HYDERABAD — The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has submitted a formal representation to the Election Commission of India (ECI) in Hyderabad, demanding complete transparency and data disclosure regarding 73,39,234 enumeration forms categorised as "uncollectable" during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Telangana.

The delegation of BRS leaders included MLC Dasoju Sravan, MLC L Ramana, party general secretary Soma Bharat, and former MLC Karne Prabhakar, alongside other party representatives. The leaders raised concerns over the handling of the enumeration phase under the ongoing SIR process.

Citing figures disclosed by the Chief Electoral Officer of Telangana, the BRS noted that the state has 3,38,26,448 registered electors. Out of this total, 2,64,87,214 enumeration forms—constituting 78.30 percent of the electorate—have been digitised. However, 73,39,234 forms, representing 21.70 percent of electors, have been classified as "uncollectable."

In their representation, the leaders expressed concern that non-collection of an enumeration form cannot automatically be treated as proof that an elector is deceased, permanently shifted, ineligible, or no longer ordinarily resident.

The BRS sought clarification from the ECI on whether any portion of the 73,39,234 electors will be excluded from the draft electoral roll merely because their forms were not collected or digitised. The leaders demanded that no genuine voter lose their electoral registration due to uncollected forms during the enumeration period.
