BRS Demands Arrest After Waqf Board Employee Assaulted In Guttala Begampet

On Tuesday, 7 July 2026, leaders of the BRS Minority Cell urged the Telangana government to take immediate action and register a First Information Report (FIR) following the alleged assault of a Waqf Board employee in Guttala Begampet, Hyderabad. The leaders demanded the immediate arrest of the individuals involved in the attack and called for enhanced protection for Waqf properties and personnel across the state.

The representation was submitted to B Shafiullah, the Secretary of the Minorities Welfare Department. According to the BRS leaders, the victim, Syed Asger Ali, is a Waqf Board employee who was attacked by alleged land grabbers. The incident occurred while Ali was performing his official duties to protect Waqf land in the Guttala Begampet area.

The BRS leaders stated that despite the assault on a public servant, no effective action had been taken by the authorities, and an FIR had not yet been registered against the accused. They expressed concern that any delay in taking strict action would embolden land encroachers and place other Waqf Board officials at greater risk while discharging their duties.

In their memorandum, the leaders demanded a fair and speedy investigation into the assault and the immediate arrest of all individuals involved in the attack. They also sought urgent measures from the state government to prevent future encroachments on Waqf lands and requested strict legal action against those illegally occupying these properties. The leaders warned that any delay in acting against the accused would only embolden encroachers and put Waqf Board officials at greater risk while discharging their duties.

The representation was formally submitted to the department secretary by Syed Akbar Hussain, former Chairman of the Telangana State Minorities Finance Corporation and BRS State Minorities leader; Waheed Ahmed, advocate, former member of the Telangana State Waqf Board and BRS State Minorities leader; and SK Mohd Azhar, a senior BRS leader.
