BRS Delegation to Meet Union Minister on July 15 to Demand Adilabad CCI Plant Revival

A delegation from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) is scheduled to travel to New Delhi on July 15 to meet with Union Heavy Industries Minister HD Kumara Swamy. The primary objective of the meeting is to seek the immediate revival of the Cement Corporation of India (CCI) plant located in Adilabad, Telangana. Reopening the facility has remained a long-standing demand of the local population, who are seeking industrial growth and employment opportunities in the region.

The high-level BRS delegation will be led by party working president KT Rama Rao, former minister Jogu Ramanna, and BRS parliamentary party leader Vaddiraju Ravichandra. Several other Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and Members of Parliament (MPs) from the party will also join the meeting in the national capital.

According to BRS representatives, the struggle to reopen the Adilabad unit is not new. While the BRS was in power in Telangana, then Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao personally met with the Prime Minister and various Union ministers to advocate for the plant's revival. KT Rama Rao, in his former capacity as the state IT and industries minister, had also made multiple official trips to New Delhi to submit representation letters to the Central government regarding this issue.

The BRS leaders pointed out that despite the state government’s expressed readiness to offer necessary support, incentives, and concessions to facilitate the revival of the CCI plant, the Centre has not taken any positive action over the past 13 years.

Furthermore, the BRS raised political criticisms, alleging that during the 2019 and 2024 election campaigns, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and several other BJP leaders had publicly promised to reopen the closed CCI plant if the voters of Adilabad elected a BJP candidate to the parliament.
