Brahmastra 2 Shoot Set for April 2027 as Deepika Padukone Eyed for Role

Actor Ranbir Kapoor is set to return to the Astraverse franchise and begin shooting for Brahmastra 2 in April 2027, marking his next major production following the completion of Ramayana Part 2. Director Ayan Mukerji and his writing team are currently actively developing the script for the upcoming sequel, according to Bollywood media reports.
Filming schedules indicate that Kapoor is expected to wrap up his shooting commitments for Ramayana Part 2 by January 2027. After taking a brief break following that production, the actor will begin principal photography for Brahmastra 2 in April 2027. In the second part, Kapoor will appear on screen in dual roles, playing both the protagonist Shiva and the character Dev. Alia Bhatt will also return to the franchise to reprise her character, Isha.
A major focus in the casting process for the sequel involves talks with Deepika Padukone. Director Ayan Mukerji is currently holding discussions with Padukone for the role of Amruta. The upcoming sequel is being planned to be considerably larger in scope and presentation compared to the first film in the series.
The project continues forward after past speculation that Brahmastra 2 had been put on the back burner following director Ayan Mukerji's work on War 2. Recent updates indicate that work on the film is progressing steadily without breaks. The storyline for the second chapter will expand the Astraverse universe and delve further into Indian mythology.
In addition to Brahmastra 2, Kapoor’s upcoming lineup includes Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War as well as director Sandeep Vanga’s Animal Park. How the schedules for all these major projects will be spaced out across Kapoor's calendar remains to be seen as the production roadmap unfolds.
