BJP Steps Up GWMC Election Preparations in Warangal Ahead of Nitin Nabin Visit

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified its organizational preparations in Hanamkonda and the wider Greater Warangal region ahead of the upcoming Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) civic elections. As part of this election push, BJP national president Nitin Nabin is scheduled to visit Warangal on June 29 to energize the party cadre and boost grassroots strategies.
Nabin’s visit is part of a larger three-day tour of Telangana. Local party leaders expect the visit to significantly increase organizational activity across the erstwhile Warangal district as the party prepares for the municipal polls, which are also expected in Hyderabad and Khammam.
The BJP has steadily expanded its political footprint in the region over the last decade. In the GWMC, the party's representation grew from just one corporator seat in 2016 to 10 seats in the 2021 civic elections.
This upward trend continued in recent elections. During the 2023 Assembly elections, the BJP improved its vote share in both the Warangal East and Warangal West constituencies. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the party secured a lead in the Warangal East segment and finished second in the Warangal West segment.
To build on these gains, local party leaders are executing a strategy focused on grassroots strengthening and the induction of leaders from rival political parties.
The BJP also plans to campaign heavily on development projects funded by the Central government. Key projects to be highlighted include the proposed Mamnoor Airport and the Kazipet Railway Manufacturing Unit, which the party projects will boost local employment and economic growth.
Through these efforts, the party aims to position itself as a major contender for the mayor's post in the upcoming GWMC elections.
