BJP Leader Ramchander Rao Asks Rahul Gandhi to Hold Student Event in Ashok Nagar

Telangana BJP president N Ramchander Rao on Tuesday challenged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to hold his "Chhatron ki Goonj" student outreach event in the Ashok Nagar locality of Hyderabad, demanding answers regarding pending tuition fee reimbursements and unfulfilled employment promises made by the state government.

Speaking to reporters in Hyderabad, Rao criticized the Congress-led Telangana government over its failure to implement its promised job calendar and fill two lakh government jobs. He stated that although the state government has completed two and a half years in office, these key commitments to youth and job aspirants remain unfulfilled.

Pointing to financial strain on students, the BJP leader alleged that educational institutions across the state are withholding certificates of students because the government has left Rs 12,000 crore in tuition fee reimbursement dues pending.

Rao specifically cited Ashok Nagar, which serves as a major hub for coaching centres in Hyderabad. He recalled that Gandhi, currently the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, had visited Ashok Nagar ahead of the 2023 Telangana assembly elections to interact with students preparing for competitive examinations.

Addressing national legislative affairs, Rao accused Gandhi of running away from parliament and preventing it from functioning smoothly. He claimed Gandhi is attempting to avoid debate on the student protest at Jantar Mantar because he fears being exposed, even though Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed readiness to answer during the debate.

Rao noted that Congress had initially demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, which was accepted. Subsequently, Gandhi demanded a statement from the Union Home Minister, but still refused to allow parliamentary proceedings to continue.

Additionally, the BJP leader condemned the alleged high-handed attitude of police toward protesting students in Jharkhand. He alleged that Congress and other member parties of the INDI alliance are playing politics at the cost of students' futures rather than addressing genuine grievances.
