BJP Holds Protest in Karimnagar Over Pending Student Fee Reimbursement Dues

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) organised a protest dharna in Karimnagar on Wednesday, demanding that the Telangana government immediately release pending fee reimbursement dues and scholarships to students.

Addressing the 'Fee Bakayi — BJP Ladayi' mahadharna, BJP state president N. Ramchander Rao warned that the party would step up its agitation against the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government if the funds were not disbursed promptly.

Rao stated that nearly 20 lakh students across Telangana were awaiting fee reimbursements. He alleged that while the previous government left behind approximately ₹8,000 crore in unpaid dues, the current administration had also acted negligently. He claimed that despite a state Cabinet decision to provide ₹2,000 crore as advance reimbursement following directions from the Telangana High Court, no funds have been released so far.

Rao noted that college managements were struggling to pay faculty salaries due to the financial delay, which has led to the closure of some educational institutions. He added that students and their families were experiencing severe financial and mental stress.

BJYM state president Ganesh Kunde said the youth wing had been campaigning on the ground for the past month. He warned that if the demands were not met, the BJYM would intensify protests and lay siege to district collectorates.

BJP state vice-president Shanthi Kumar, district president Saini Mallesham, city mayor Srinivas, deputy mayor Sunil Rao, former MLA Bodiga Shobha, and students participated in the demonstration.
