Bike Taxi Driver Extorted of Rs 20,000 After Staged Accident in Medipally

A 29-year-old bike-taxi driver was allegedly cheated and extorted of Rs 20,000 by a group of men following a staged road accident near the Bangaru Maisamma Wine Shop in Medipally, Hyderabad. The incident took place on June 5, 2026, while the driver was on his way to deliver a passenger to Boduppal.
The victim, identified as Suresh, a resident of Jawaharnagar, was operating his bike-taxi when a scooter carrying three men collided with his vehicle. Immediately after the collision, two of the men on the scooter fled the spot, leaving one passenger behind.
The remaining man claimed that he had sustained a leg injury due to the accident. He then convinced Suresh to help him by taking him to a hospital on his motorcycle.
While they were traveling, the man secretly got in touch with his associates. Shortly after, the associates intercepted Suresh along the route and forced him to go to a secluded location.
At this isolated spot, the group of men allegedly threatened the bike-taxi driver and demanded a sum of money to pay for the medical treatment of the injured man.
As Suresh did not have the required money on hand, he contacted a friend to help him out of the situation. The friend then sent Rs 20,000 to the accused men via a digital payment transfer.
Following the incident, Suresh approached the local authorities to report the crime. He lodged a formal complaint with the Medipally police on Sunday. The police have registered a case regarding the staged accident and extortion, and an investigation is currently underway to identify and apprehend the suspects.
