Bike Mechanic Arrested for Rape and Murder of Nurse in Thukkuguda

Pahadishareef police have arrested a 34-year-old bike mechanic in connection with the alleged rape and murder of a 21-year-old nurse at Thukkuguda in Rangareddy district, officials announced on Monday. The accused, identified as Md Sanaullah, a native of Begusarai district in Bihar, was residing and working at a bike repair shop in Thukkuguda after previously working in Uppal.

Speaking at a press meet on Monday, Shamshabad DCP B Rajesh stated that the victim had arrived in Hyderabad approximately seven months ago alongside a friend and was employed at a private hospital. Both the victim and her friend resided in the hospital quarters.

The incident came to light on August 29 when the victim's friend alerted her aunt that the woman had not emerged from her room since the morning and failed to respond to repeated knocks. The friend gained access through a window and discovered the victim lying dead with bleeding facial injuries. Following a complaint lodged by the victim's aunt, Pahadishareef police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Technical evidence and gathered intelligence led to the arrest of Sanaullah on Sunday evening. Investigators stated that Sanaullah entered the nurse's room through a window at around 12:30 a.m. on August 29. When the woman woke up and raised an alarm, a struggle ensued during which she scratched his throat and chest and bit his finger.

Police said the accused restrained and strangulated her, slammed her head against the floor causing an injury to the back of her head, and throttled her until she lost consciousness. He then allegedly sexually assaulted her before closing the window and fleeing the scene.

According to the police, Sanaullah had been stalking the victim for nearly a month after spotting her through a rear window of the mechanic shop. He allegedly monitored her movements with the intention of sexually assaulting her.

Sanaullah had arrived in Hyderabad in 2023 and initially worked at a mechanic shop in Uppal, where he learned motorcycle repair work. Around two months ago, he transferred to the Thukkuguda shop owned by the same employer. Police have seized a mobile phone and the clothing worn by the accused at the time of the offense. Further investigation remains underway.
