Bhatti Vikramarka Proposes Singareni-Hutti Joint Venture for Gold Mining

HYDERABAD — Telangana Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Finance and Energy, Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, has directed officials to explore the possibility of establishing a joint venture between Singareni Collieries and Karnataka’s Hutti Gold Mines to expand domestic gold production.

Speaking during the second day of his visit to gold mining operations in Raichur district of Karnataka on Friday, the Deputy Chief Minister stated that combining the technical capabilities of both public sector undertakings would yield better results in the exploration and extraction of gold reserves.

Bhatti Vikramarka instructed Singareni officials to prepare a comprehensive action plan for collaboration between the two entities. The proposed partnership would cover gold exploration, mining, extraction, processing, refining, modern technology adoption, the deployment of technical experts, and human resource training.

During his tour, the Deputy Chief Minister inspected the Hutti and UT gold mines, reviewing the entire process from ore extraction to the production of refined gold. He visited the production unit, the ore processing plant, and the electrowinning facility at Hutti Gold Mines, where officials explained the stages of processing raw ore into refined gold. Officials informed him that the Hutti project produces an average of 2 to 4 kilograms of gold per day.

At the UT Open Cast Gold Mine viewpoint, the Deputy Chief Minister observed the ore extraction process and enquired about the depths from which raw material is extracted. He also examined technical maps related to the mine and reviewed the technologies deployed for exploration.

Bhatti Vikramarka later inspected underground mining operations at the UT underground mine, reviewing ore extraction, transportation systems, machinery usage, and worker safety protocols. He also planted a sapling at the mining facility during the visit.

Highlighting the importance of gold to national economic security, Bhatti Vikramarka emphasised the need to increase domestic production and reduce reliance on imports. He noted that a partnership between Singareni and Hutti Gold Mines would help adopt advanced technologies, create local employment opportunities, and support national economic growth.
