Bhatti Vikramarka Meets QuantumScape CEO in US for Battery Tie-Up

Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka visited the headquarters of US-based QuantumScape in San Jose, California, on Monday to discuss potential collaborations in next-generation solid-state battery technology. During the visit, the Deputy Chief Minister held high-level discussions with QuantumScape President and Chief Executive Officer Dr Siva Sivaram and the company's senior leadership regarding prospective partnerships with India's advanced manufacturing ecosystem and Telangana's industrial corridors.
Dr Sivaram presented an overview of QuantumScape’s ongoing development of solid-state lithium-metal battery technology. He detailed how solid-state batteries offer key advantages over conventional lithium-ion cells, including higher energy density, faster charging capabilities, and improved safety features. The CEO also explained the factors setting QuantumScape's technology apart, along with the operational challenges involved in moving such innovations from research stages to commercial-scale manufacturing.
The discussions encompassed broad aspects of the global battery supply chain, covering critical minerals, advanced materials and components, cell manufacturing, and integration into electric vehicles. Both sides exchanged views on how emerging battery technologies could reshape existing supply chains, while creating opportunities for greater diversification and new manufacturing partnerships across different geographies.
Against this backdrop, Bhatti Vikramarka and QuantumScape leadership evaluated India’s growing electric-mobility and advanced-manufacturing ecosystem. The talks explored avenues for future engagement, including collaboration in advanced materials and components, engineering research and development, supply-chain partnerships, and long-term possibilities for the localisation or expansion of next-generation battery technologies in India.
Highlighting India’s capabilities in engineering talent, clean technologies, and advanced manufacturing, Bhatti Vikramarka invited QuantumScape to explore deeper engagement with the Indian ecosystem, including opportunities within Telangana’s emerging industrial and innovation corridors.
