Begumpet College Hosts Online Workshop on MOOCs for Academicians

The Government Degree College for Women, Begumpet, in collaboration with the Consortium for Educational Communication (CEC), New Delhi, recently organized an online workshop to raise awareness about Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) among academicians.
The virtual workshop was designed to empower faculty members to integrate digital learning tools into mainstream pedagogy. It also aimed to strengthen the reach and adoption of CEC's MOOCs and related digital education initiatives.
Speaking at the event, Prof. K Padmavathi, Principal of the Government Degree College for Women, highlighted the importance of MOOCs as futuristic learning platforms. She noted that these online courses provide students with a viable mechanism to earn additional degree credits and urged students to enroll in programs matching their academic interests.
Dr. P Raghupathi, Director of OU CEC-EMRC, led a detailed session focusing on the process and development of MOOCs. During his presentation, he shared details about the 172 CEC MOOCs prepared for the July-December 2026 session.
Dr. Raghupathi outlined key aspects of the digital offerings, explaining the course structures, credit guidelines, scalability, accessibility, and operational flexibility. He also elaborated on the critical roles and responsibilities assigned to course coordinators managing these programs.
A total of 75 academicians, course coordinators, and research scholars participated in the virtual workshop.
