BCCI Appoints Sairaj Bahutule as Indian Men's Cricket Team Spin Bowling Coach

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on June 2, 2026, the appointment of former India international Sairaj Bahutule as the Spin Bowling Coach of the Indian senior men's cricket team. The official announcement was made in Hyderabad, marking a significant addition to the national team's coaching staff.
Bahutule, a highly experienced coach and former all-rounder, brings a wealth of experience from his extensive work across domestic cricket, the Indian Premier League (IPL), India A, and various age-group national teams.
During his playing career, Bahutule represented India in two Test matches and eight One-Day Internationals. He was a dominant force on the domestic circuit, compiling 6,176 runs and taking 630 wickets in a first-class career that spanned nearly two decades.
After retiring as a player, Bahutule transitioned into coaching, where he has built a reputation for developing spin-bowling talent. He has served as the Head Coach for several state teams, including Vidarbha, Kerala, Gujarat, and Bengal. In the IPL, he worked as a spin-bowling coach with the Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings.
Bahutule has also been a key figure in India's player development pathway. He served as the Bowling Coach for the India U-19 team that won the ICC Under-19 Men's Cricket World Cup in 2022, and remained with the coaching staff for the 2024 tournament. Additionally, he worked as a specialist coach with India A and the senior national team on multiple assignments, and was a member of the coaching setup at the BCCI’s National Cricket Academy (now Centre of Excellence) from 2021 to 2024.
Expressing his gratitude, Bahutule stated that representing India as a player was a matter of immense pride and that the opportunity to contribute again in a coaching capacity is deeply special. He added that he looks forward to working with the players to support the team's pursuit of excellence across all formats.
