Banjara Hills Woman Files Police Complaint After Expulsion From Residents' WhatsApp Group

A female resident of NBT Nagar on Road No. 12 in Banjara Hills has filed a complaint with the local police after being blocked and expelled from a neighborhood WhatsApp group. The complainant approached the Banjara Hills police alleging mental harassment after the group's administrator repeatedly refused her requests to be reinstated. The dispute reportedly began when the woman was removed for sharing messages that carried political undertones, which violated the group's established guidelines.

According to the Banjara Hills police, the WhatsApp group was specifically created for the residents of the NBT Nagar locality to discuss and share local basti issues. To keep the focus strictly on community welfare and civic matters, the group administrators had implemented a strict rule barring all members from expressing political opinions or sharing political messages. Despite these guidelines, the complainant continued to share messages with political undertones, which eventually triggered the administrator to remove her from the group chat.

Unable to accept the decision of her removal, the resident took the matter to the Banjara Hills police station. In her complaint, she claimed that she was subjected to mental harassment due to the administrator's persistent refusal to add her back to the digital platform. She requested the police to intervene and facilitate her re-entry into the neighborhood chat group.

The dispute intensified further when the Banjara Hills police summoned the group administrator to the police station to address the complaint. Despite the police intervention, the administrator firmly declined to re-add the woman to the WhatsApp group. The administrator maintained that the complainant cannot be added back under any circumstances, stating that the group is currently seeking professional legal opinion to decide on their further course of action.
