Bandi Sanjay Kumar Calls Modi and BJP True Successors to Mahatma Gandhi

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar stated on Gandhi Jayanti that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party are the true successors to Mahatma Gandhi. Speaking in Jammikunta after offering floral tributes at a statue of Mahatma Gandhi, the minister said the current central leadership is working to realise the ideals of "Ram Rajya" envisioned by the freedom fighter.

According to the Union minister, Gandhi built his life around the principles of truth, righteousness, and justice. He highlighted that Gandhi lived simply, slept on bare floors, remained closely connected with ordinary citizens, and never sought personal power, wealth, or dynastic succession.

Bandi Sanjay described Gandhi as a practising Hindu who respected the virtues found in other faiths. He noted that Gandhi regarded Lord Ram as an enduring symbol of truth, justice, and moral values that society ought to follow.

The minister directed criticism at the Congress party and Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy over their recent characterisation of Lord Ram as a "god of the rich." Bandi Sanjay questioned whether the Ram worshipped by Gandhi could ever be described in such terms, pointing out that Gandhi had envisioned an equitable society free of divisions between the rich and the poor.

Bandi Sanjay argued that the Modi administration and the BJP are actively pursuing Gandhi's vision through nationwide initiatives, specifically highlighting the Swachh Bharat cleanliness campaign. He claimed that the prime minister's emphasis on cleanliness, public service, and development closely mirrors the priorities Gandhi championed.

Targeting the opposition, the Union minister alleged that Congress has strayed far from Gandhi's core teachings by engaging in corruption and family-centric politics. He reiterated that the BJP considers Gandhi's moral values and simple lifestyle as central principles within its political approach.
