Bandi Sai Bhageerath Seeks Regular Bail in POCSO Case at Telangana High Court

Bandi Sai Bhageerath, the son of Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar, approached the Telangana High Court in Hyderabad on June 30, 2026, to seek regular bail in a case involving the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The criminal case against him was registered by the Petbasheerabad police under the Cyberabad Police commissionerate.
The regular bail petition has been formally listed before Justice K Sujana and is scheduled to be taken up for a hearing. In his petition filed before the High Court, Bhageerath claimed that he is innocent of the charges. He contended that the criminal case registered against him is politically motivated and stated that he has fully cooperated with the police investigation.
The legal proceedings began in May when the Cyberabad Police, through the Petbasheerabad police, arrested Bhageerath. His arrest was initiated after the mother of a 17-year-old girl lodged a complaint alleging sexual harassment and assault. Following the complaint, the Petbasheerabad police booked him under the provisions of the POCSO Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Earlier in the legal process, Bhageerath had obtained temporary relief. On June 20, a Special POCSO Court located in Malkajgiri granted him interim bail for a duration of 10 days. This interim bail was sanctioned to allow him to write his BBA supplementary examinations at Mahindra University.
Following the expiration of the 10-day interim bail period, Bhageerath surrendered to the authorities. He remains in judicial custody while his regular bail application is pending before the Telangana High Court.
